I wondered if there is a demand of a Directory for a DotNetNuke Link Exchange such as Linkpartners.com

Has anyone come across a DNN Link exchange and is it of use?

I would also be interested to hear if anyone has had a success using a link exchange as I've previously used them for a few sites, but tend to just get bombarded with junk email and junk links from inappropriate sites. Are there any quality link exchanges out there and do they have any success with promoting your website?

Styling your Text and Images in DotNetNuke

I've just completed a skinning tutorial which explains how to set up FCKEditor to present a list of styles from your skin.css file.

This is a great way of working that has many advantages. If you view this image below you will see a layout that has been created just in the Text / HTML module. No tables or containers have been used, all you do is programme the styles using simple CSS code and then call it up from the FCKEditor. - I've found this to be a good way of setting up a skin if you are handing the site over to a beginner administrator. They can just use the styles that you have programmed into the FCKEditor and it automatically adds the correct tags and calls up the correct classes from your skin.css file.

No tables, no junk HTML, clean code and created by a beginner administrator.

This tutorial is 6 videos covering 60 mins of walking through setting this up and will be released in the next issue no.8 in April.

Issue 7 - Developing and Enhancing DotNetNuke Skins

March Issue 7 Released

I am pleased to announce that issue 7 of DNN Creative Magazine has been released.

In this issue we have released a free pure CSS skin ‘Simple Red Leaf’ which has many advantages over the traditional table based skin, such as: accessibility, flexibility, print view, search engine friendly, small file size, etc.

Alongside the CSS skin are supporting documents to help you get started with creating your own CSS skins, covering techniques for improving skin and module coding standards, minimising CSS code, enabling browsers to operate in standards compliance mode and techniques for testing skins.

Following some of the techniques developed in this CSS skin we have documented how to add some of the features to your own skins. This includes how to enable skins to use resizable text within Internet Explorer and how to replace the Solpart menu with the HouseMenu.

These elements are demonstrated in our series of how to build a website using DotNetNuke.

Laurence Neville has also taken the time to share his experiences of creating a DotNetNuke website in Hebrew, which raises some interesting issues, such as setting the text to display from right to left.

This issue comes complete with 10 video tutorials and a free skin.

PS. Download Manager: There are currently 96 videos available for download on DNN Creative Magazine and they are quite large downloads. A good free utility that is available for managing your downloads is Go!Zilla.
